4FINGERS CRISPY CHICKEN & Mad Mex!

May 14, 2020

Singapore homegrown franchise, Korean inspired 4FINGERS CRISPY CHICKEN, opened its first outlet in Malaysia in Mid Valley Megamall in November 2015. It grew rapidly over the last 4 years to reach past 20 outlets! Four friends who enjoyed eating BonChon Chicken in New York City’s Koreatown decided to open 4FINGERS CRISPY CHICKEN in ION Orchard in November 2009. After 4 years the founders parted ways and sold their stake to a new investor. With fresh funds injected, 4FINGERS was able to go on an expansion trajectory. Its CEO, Steen Puggaard, a Dane who loved laksa and Singapore, was behind the successful growth of 4FINGERS. Puggaard had 20 years experience in the F&B industry (stints with McDonald’s, Burger King and the Les Amis restaurant group).

In September 2018 4FINGERS acquired a 50% stake in Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill (Mad Mex), a QSR brand in Australia. According to the Straits Times, Mad Mex founder, Clovis Young will remain CEO of Mad Mex and retain his 50% stake. Puggaard has left 4FINGERS and the new CEO is Dave Acton, formerly of Dairy Queen. Mad Mex opened its first store here in KLCC recently.

Investment banker, Vijay Sethu, of Australian nationality, is the owner of 4FINGERS. He is a UK trained Chartered Accountant with an MBA from Auckland University.

Update 26 April 2021

The covid pandemic has drastically reduced tourists footfall in KLCC since the Movement Controlled Order of March 18 2020 was imposed. Mad Mex has closed its outlet in KLCC.
